PORTLAND, Ore. -- On Sunday, law enforcement in Oregon, working with FBI Salt Lake City and the Rich County Sheriff’s Office, safely recovered a 17-year-old  girl who was reported missing from Garden City, Utah, in May of 2025.

She was located Sunday afternoon in Oregon with a 39-year-old male, who was taken into custody without incident.

“Tonight, local police in Oregon brought a minor who had been missing for a year and a half to safety, acting on information provided by our FBI Salt Lake City Field Office,” said FBI Director Kash Patel. “We are grateful she can return home, and we will continue working with our partners to hold those responsible accountable.

"To anyone using gore groups to target and exploit children: the FBI and our partners are coming for you. We are using every tool at our disposal to combat nihilistic violent extremism, bring offenders to justice and protect America’s children.”

The FBI and the Rich County Sheriff’s Office have been actively investigating this case for more than a year and pursuing every lead received from across the U.S. and in other countries. As this case is ongoing, no further information will be released at this time.

The FBI and Rich County Sheriff’s Office appreciate invaluable assistance from Oregon State Police, FBI Portland, and the Utah Department of Public Safety.

KGW reported that Oregon State Police said they received a request from the FBI just before noon Sunday to help with the recovery of a missing 17-year-old, believed to be at a home in the town of Huntington, a small community along I-84 near the Idaho border.

Troopers and local law enforcement went to a home on Fulton Street East in Huntington and took the girl into protective custody, KGW said.

During a traffic stop in nearby Ontario, authorities arrested 39-year-old Adam H. Harmel. He was lodged at the Malheur County Jail on federal charges, OSP said.

The FBI hasn't released details about the girl, but the timeline of the case aligns with the disappearance of then-16-year-old Kylie Arellano. She was last seen on May 29, 2025 in Garden City, and her disappearance sparked an investigation that has lasted over a year.
