REDMOND, Ore. -- Redmond Schools Superintendent Charan Cline has announced his retirement, effective next June, and the school board has begun the process of finding his successor.

"This school year will be my final year as superintendent, as I plan to retire in June after 32 years in education, including seven years serving Redmond School District," Cline wrote in his message leading Thursday's edition of the "RSD in Focus" newsletter.

"Serving the students, staff and community of Redmond has been one of the highest honors of my life," he wrote. "I am deeply grateful for the trust and support I have received along the way."

"Our Board of Directors has begun the process of hiring the district’s next superintendent," Cline added. "A search consultant is helping guide the process, and updates will be communicated along the way."
