BEND, Ore. -- A Bend man who pulled a gun while arguing with a group of teens who were speeding through the Centennial Parking Garage was arrested on a menacing charge Wednesday afternoon, police said.
Around 4:16 p.m., police responded to a report of a weapons violation in the city-owned parking garage on NW Oregon Avenue in downtown Bend, Bend Police Communications Manager Sheila Miller said Thursday in a news release.
Witnesses reported that a group of teenagers was aggressively driving a large diesel truck through the parking garage when the suspect, 67-year-old William Carl Hardt, yelled at them for speeding. Miller said.
Hardt and the teens exchanged words, and the teens reported that Hardt took a gun from a bag and menaced them with it.
Officers arrested Hardt on suspicion of menacing and located and seized the firearm during a consent search of Hardt's vehicle.
There was a large police presence in the parking garage for about an hour as officers investigated.
